Cetti's Warbler - photo by Sandra Stewart |
I managed an hours walk at Kidwelly Quay today in very warm and humid weather. It was also still so birds were singing. Reed Buntings were the most prominent with at least three males in song. two Reed Warblers and a Whitethroat added to the chorus but the most noteworthy were 2 Cetti's Warblers singing by the Kymer Canal.
Cetti's are lovely birds Derek, that explosive call is really something. Unfortunately we lost our local Cetti's popoulation in Worcestershire (Upton Warren NR) during the previous hard winters
ReplyDeleteWe have had a good population in Carmarthenshire for some years but I had not heard one in this spot for a year or two so its good that our cold spell has not reducedn their numbers. I agree that song is something else!
